Head of Legal Americas | Leading Global Company

A leading global company is seeking a Head of Legal Americas to lead its regional legal function and serve as a strategic business partner across the Americas.

Based in Argentina and reporting directly to the International Legal Affairs leadership at Headquarters, this executive role combines strategic vision with hands-on execution. The successful candidate will oversee legal matters across multiple countries, coordinate regional legal resources, and advise senior business leaders on complex legal, governance and compliance matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary legal advisor for the Americas region, supporting Business Unit Directors, General Managers and regional leadership.

• Provide legal guidance on complex commercial agreements, strategic projects and day-to-day business operations across multiple jurisdictions.

• Lead the legal coordination of approximately 18 affiliates and a regional network of internal and external legal counsel.

• Oversee significant litigation, regulatory matters and legal risk management across the region.

• Drive regional governance initiatives, including corporate governance, document retention, data privacy and competition law programs.

• Support mergers, acquisitions and joint venture transactions in coordination with global legal teams.

• Partner closely with Headquarters and cross-functional teams including Compliance, Finance, Tax, HSE and Strategy.

• Promote knowledge sharing, legal best practices and the development of the regional legal community.

• Ensure consistent legal standards and governance practices across all affiliates in the Americas.

What We're Looking For

• Law degree, preferably complemented by postgraduate studies in Corporate Law, Business Law or International Trade.

• Extensive experience in senior in-house legal roles within multinational organizations.

• Proven experience supporting multiple countries or leading a regional legal function.

• Strong background in commercial contracts, corporate law, governance, regulatory matters and risk management.

• Experience working in highly matrixed, international organizations.

• Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and partner with executive leadership.

• Strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills.

• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams across different countries and cultures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous exposure to M&A transactions and strategic projects.

• Experience interacting with both Civil Law and Common Law jurisdictions.

• Experience managing external counsel across multiple countries.

• Previous experience in international law firms will be considered a plus.

• Experience within industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure or energy-related businesses is valued, but not mandatory.

• Languages: English: Fluent (mandatory), Spanish: Fluent (mandatory), Portuguese: Nice to have, French: Nice to have
